what’s residential treatment for eating disorders like?

I’m going very soon and I don’t know what to expect at all.
Thanks<3

It depends where you go. I’ve been inpatient once in a treatment center and once in a hospital, and I’ve also been to an afterschool program. In a treatment center, you’ll have frequent meetings with your psychiatrist, psychologist and dietician. You’ll also have various types of therapies, including group therapies with the other girls who are in the program. In my experience, there’s a lot of structure within the program. In the program that I was in, there were varying levels that you had to work through to be discharged, but to begin, I was given very little independence and lots of supervision. Many programs allow you to work to a level where you can get passes to go out of the facility and even eat a meal out while following your meal plan.
I’m not sure exactly what types of questions you have, but if you have any more or would like to talk to me about my experiences inpatient, my email address is laurelle117@yahoo.com
Good luck!
