How common are eating disorders in the teenage population?

Well I normally answer questions in the diet and fitness section where there are a lot of adolescents there ( including myself). Many who ask the questions seem to know many diets and self starvation are bad but do it anyway. I have also found a lot of questions from teenage girls with eating disorders. So I was wondering how common teenage eating disorders are where you live?

In the US there are as many as 10 million females and 1 million males dealing with one of the two types of eating disorders, bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

Binge eating disorders could be as much as three times that number, but the National Health Agencies do not have a count for them.

Only 33% of people with anorexia and 6% of those with bulimia seek help.

35% of dieters progress to pathological dieting. Of those 20-25% will progress to partial or full blown eating disorders.

Over 50% of teenage girls and nearly 33% of teen boys use unhealthy weight control behaviors such as skipping eals, fasting, smoking cigarettes, vomiting adn taking laxatives.

25% of American men and 45% of American women are on a diet on any given day.

81% of 10 year olds are afraid of being fat.

51% of 9 and 10 year old girls feel better about themsleves if they are on a diet.

46% of 9-11 year olds are "sometimes" or "very often" on diets.

91% of girls on college campus attempted to control their weight through dieting

95% of all dieters regain their lost weight in 1-5 years.
